This event is a true labor of love. The original "Huber Hoedown" happened 5 years ago at Sandord St. The idea was thought up by Christian Cardiello to celebrate a man's dedication to his support of live music. Unfortunately, Christian and his feathered bandmates could not make that one.
The following year, the idea was mentioned again. Caution was thrown to the wind and the larger scale "Hoedown" was held at Eddy Ridge. In planning g that though and keeping with the Dump Love spirit, the event would be for charity. All those planning agreed that no money will be pocketed. Everything after expenses would go to charity. Year 1 was a success.
Year 2. I did not think much of it until A LOT of chatter got back to me. Positive chatter. Once again, I stepped out on a windy day and threw that caution straight into the wind. A new venue, The G Lodge, welcomed us. Once again, it seemed as if it was a success. As Saturday night wound down, I heard my darling son in law ask from the stage, " who's coming next year to Huber 3.0?" I stared at him in disbelief for a few moments and thought, " welp, 3.0 it is".
This year there has been a name change but the same love and dedication are going into it. Scott asked me last year to change the name, simply because he is pretty humble. Scott also feels that the attention should be elsewhere, such as our charity of choice, the musicians and especially, all of you. Hence, The Family Hoedown. In the grand scheme of things, that is ultimately what we truly are, one big family.
